What to Expect from the REACH Pre-registration Process

Head of the European Chemicals Agency
Geert Dancet was nominated as head of the European Commission's Reach unit in March 2004. His activities in the commission included ensuring that the Reach program progressed from a proposal into legislation. In December 2007 the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) management board formally appointed Mr. Dancet as the first executive director of the Agency. His appointment, which began January 1, 2008 is for a 5-year term.

Pre-registration for the European Union’s (EU) Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) program will begin June 1. This one-hour webinar will be broadcast to you live from the new European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) headquarters in Helsinki, Finland and will feature a detailed presentation by Geert Dancet, the new head of the European Chemicals Agency.
Mr. Dancet will provide the key presentation of the webinar. In it he will give his perspectives on the impending REACH regulation process, detailing the systems now in place and his expectations for those systems now that the pre-registration phase for Reach due to start on June 1.
Subsequent speakers are Andreas Boller, Senior Manager, Restructuring and Performance Services, from KPMG in Switzerland, Michael Fahrbach, Senior Manager, Sustainability Advisory Services, from KPMG in Germany, and Frank Kochendoerfer, SAP Chemicals IBU Field Services Director. These three speakers will make remarks on strategies and solutions to the complex data handling requirements presented by REACH.
Audience members will have an opportunity to put questions directly to Geert Dancet and the other speakers in a Q&A session that will take place during the final period of the webinar.
This event is a must attend for all chemical company executives concerned with regulatory compliance for materials produced in, or imported directly or indirectly to the European Community.

From line management and as a consultant, Dr. Andreas Boller has experience in strategy projects, business process engineering and corporate restructuring both in concept and implementation stage. The main focus of his work has been in the field of growth and re-alignment strategy implementation. He has experience in cost reduction and service improvement in supply chain management leading to improvements in purchasing departments, as well as starting of a company. He has been involved in several REACH related projects. Before he joined KPMG in 2006 he was head of supply chain management at Mibelle AG Cosmetics and COO at Polypag AG. Previously he held positions in Helbling Management Consulting, SRI Consulting (Chemical & Energy) and McKinsey & Co.

Dr. Michael Fahrbach
Senior Manager, Sustainability Advisory Services
KPMG in Germany
Michael holds a PhD in Chemistry from Max-Planck-Institute, Heidelberg. He studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg and is a certified Environmental Verifier (EMAS). He joined KPMG in July 1996 and leads KPMG in Germany's Sustainability Team and REACH task force. Michael has more than 12 years’ experience in managing environment-related projects such as environmental and REACH due diligences, audit support, impact assessment of climate change, product safety, consulting and audit of sustainability reports, and the implementation of risk management systems. |

Frank Kochendoerfer
IBU Field Services Director
SAP Chemicals
Frank Kochendoerfer is responsible for SAP's North American Industry Business Unit team. Prior to joining SAP he led NAFTA-wide management of an industry segment at a large global specialty chemicals company. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bonn, Germany, and leads SAP's REACH-response program in the Americas.
