Ontario Slated to Advance Toxics Use Reduction Law

The Ontario Ministry of Environment is expected this week to advance a proposed toxics use reduction law that industry executives say would complicate existing efforts under the country’s federal Chemicals Management Plan (CMP). The Ontario plan would require firms to evaluate ways to reduce toxic releases by analyzing pollution prevention efforts, including consideration of alternative processes or technologies.
