Investigation Turns Up Array of Drugs in U.S. Water

Traces of a wide array of pharmaceuticals have been found in drinking water supplied to an estimated 41 million U.S. residents, according to an investigation by the Associated Press (AP). Of the 34 major municipalities that were tested for the contamination, the Philadelphia area had the widest variety of pharmaceuticals in the drinking water supply, with 56 pharmaceuticals or by-products in treated drinking water, AP says. Those include“medicines for pain, infection, high cholesterol, asthma, epilepsy, mental illness, and heart problems,” AP reports...
