Gases from Waste-water to Power Rockets

Two engineers at Stanford University have developed a cheaper, cleaner waste water treatment process which generates greenhouse gases (GHG) nitrous oxide and methane. These gases may then be siphoned off for applications such as powering rocket propulsion and the waste treatment plant. The research forms part of a growing interest by scientists across the world to harness the materials and energy value generated by waste water facilities, such as the harvesting of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), a class of biopolymer, from domestic sewage treatment plants.  ...
