Merck and Codexis Honored with Presidential Green Chemistry Award

Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., and Codexis (Redwood City, CA), an enzymes firm, have been honored with the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. EPA for developing a biocatalytic process for the synthesis of the type two diabetes drug Sitagliptin.   A research paper on the Sitagliptin production process has been published during the past few days in the peer-reviewed journal Science.
