Sustainability :: Green Innovation of the Month Cleaner Process for the Synthesis of Styryl Dyes4:15 AM MDT | May 6, 2008 | Alex Scott Research chemist Aleksey Vasilev from the University of Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria, and colleagues, including chemists from the University of Alcalá, Madrid, have developed an environmentally-benign process for manufacturing styryl dyes. The novel process avoids the use of solvents and instead employs an energy efficient microwave heating system. Raw materials and process waste is markedly reduced in the process, the researchers say.
