Sustainability :: Green Innovation of the Month BASF Codevelops Low Energy Refrigeration Technology3:34 AM MDT | August 27, 2009 | Alex Scott BASF says it is collaborating with Delta Electronics (Fremont, CA) to develop a refrigeration system which has the potential to cut energy consumption by up to 50% compared with current technology. BASF’s approach is based on magnetocaloric power generation. Applications include refrigerators and air conditioning systems. The partners plan to codevelop materials and prototypes for cooling systems and power generators. Financial terms were not disclosed.
