Novozymes, MBI granted DOE grant

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Novozymes and MBI, a Lansing, MI-based bioprocessing technology non-profit, up to $2.5 million to develop new enzyme-based technologies to convert corn stover into sugars for subsequent conversion into biofuels. MBI's AFEX technology can be practiced in depots close to the farm, allowing dense biomass pellets to be economically stored and shipped to a distant biorefinery.
