EU Reviews Approval Process for Neonicotinoids in Light of Scientific Evidence on Bee Deaths

Europe’s ombudsman P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, has opened an investigation into whether the European Commission has taken appropriate measures to combat increased insecticide-related bee mortality. The new investigation follows a complaint from the Austrian Ombudsman Board, alleging that the commission has failed to take scientific evidence into account, which it says favors restricting the use of neonicotinoid insecticides.
