Coca-Cola, JBF Industries Plan Renewable Glycols Unit in Brazil

Coca-Cola says it has partnered with JBF Industries (Mumbai) to expand production of biobased ethylene glycol (EG) for its partially biobased polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. JBF will build the world's largest biobased EG plant in São Paolo using sugarcane and sugarcane processing waste as feedstock. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Construction on the new facility is expected to begin at the end of this year and last for 24 months. At full capacity, it is estimated the facility will produce 500,000 m.t. of EG per year. By...
