China currently has more than 2,000 national regulations on food and more than 2,900 industry-based regulations, and many of these overlap or contradict each other because multiple government agencies were responsible in the past for compiling their own standards, the government says. China now plans to improve national food safety regulatory standards by revamping outdated standards, reviewing and abolishing any contradicting or overlapping regulations, and developing new...
