Proposed Bill May Expand Rail Infrastructure

Two U.S. representatives have proposed a bill to expand freight infrastructure and encourage more freight to be transported on rail rather than on highways. The Freight Rail Infrastructure Act of 2007, introduced by Kendrick B. Meek (D, FL) and Eric Cantor (R, VA), would provide a 25% tax credit to any business, including ports, railroads, trucking firms, and ethanol producers, that expanded its capacity to ship by rail.
