Services :: Transportation North American Rail Traffic Up for Week Ended October 31, 20092:58 PM MST | November 5, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America was up 0.6% last week, to 42,228 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic rose 3.6% to 28,032 cars. Canadian traffic fell 8.8%, to 13,033 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 84.3% to 1,163 cars. Traffic in North America as a whole and in the U.S. rose from the prior week's totals, AAR says. Year-to-date the North American chemicals sector has seen 1,682,710 cars of rail traffic, a 15% drop from last year's levels. Overall freight rail traffic totaled 359,414 cars last week, an 11.9%...
