The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) recently broke ground on the Lake Borgne floodgate, located close to where the Intracoastal Waterway meets the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO), but several groups contend that the floodgate is too narrow to safely accommodate barge traffic.
