Services :: Transportation FMCSA Issues Final Hours of Service Rule10:26 PM MST | November 23, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA; Washington) has issued a final hours of service (HOS) rule that essentially restores its controversial 2005 HOS regulation which sets the amount of time a driver can be on the road without taking a break. The rule becomes effective January 19, 2009. The 2005 rule has been struck down twice in federal courts during the last two years amid criticism from Public Citizen (Washington) and other groups that cite driver and public safety concerns.
