Court Overturns Parts of HOS

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has vacated two Department of Transportation (DOT; Washington) provisions to the trucking industry’s hours of service (HOS) rules that became effective in 2005. Struck down were provisions that allow drivers to spend 11 consecutive hours behind the wheel, and that allow drivers to restart their weekly shifts after taking off 34 consecutive hours.
