Services :: Transportation Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 8.3%3:13 PM MDT | November 4, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 8.3% year-on-year last week, to 45,707 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up 5.6%, to 29,587 cars. Canadian traffic rose 16.9%, to 15,211 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 21.6%, to 909 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, except in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 6.8% year-on-year last week, to 383,795 cars. Year-to-date, chemicals sector rail traffic has risen 13.6% from 2009 levels, to 1,911,420...
