Services :: Transportation Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 4.8%4:31 PM MDT | August 25, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 4.8% year-on-year last week, to 41,610 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. Traffic was up 3.8%, to 29,987 cars. Canadian traffic rose 7.6%, to 10,341 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 7.1%, to 1,282 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, though it fell in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 2.8% year-on-year last week, to 392,743 cars, AAR says.
