Services :: Transportation Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 11.2%5:21 PM MDT | October 14, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 11.2% year-on-year last week, to 44,160 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up 6%, to 28,013 cars. Canadian traffic rose 25.2%, to 15,157 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 16.5%, to 990 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 9.5% year-on-year last week, to 385,686 cars. Traffic for the month of September was up 7.7% from 2008, but still 7.5% below September 2008 levels.
