Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 2.3%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 2.3% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 24 August, to 41,769 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 2.5%, to 30,052 cars. Canadian traffic increased 1.4%, to 10,498 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 5%, to 1,219 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week, though it declined in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic declined 1.2% YOY during the week ended 24 August, to 386,987 cars, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector...
