Chemicals sector rail traffic rise 8.6%

North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 8.6% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 1 June, to 41,417 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 3.4%, to 28,258 cars. Canadian traffic increased 18.6%, to 11,555 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 49.1%, to 1,604 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 3.4% YOY during the week ended 1 June, to 360,770 cars, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 949,180 cars of rail traffic, up 2.7% from 2012...
