Vopak Records Rise in First-Quarter Group Operating Profits; Chemicals Division Profits Fall

Vopak has recorded a 15% increase in its first-quarter group operating profits, to €91.2 million ($119 million), compared with the year-ago period. And operating profits excluding exceptional items for the quarter increased by 8%, to €85.6 million. The rise in operating profits was supported by high activity levels in its oil terminals, and new capacity commissioned in 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 contributed to the growth, Vopak says.
