Services :: Storage Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 0.4%5:13 PM MDT | October 25, 2012 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic fell 0.4% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 20 October, to 40,714 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was down 1.8%, to 29,908 cars. Canadian traffic fell 2.9%, to 10,055 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 57.9%, to 1,751 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic declined 4.2% YOY during the week ended 20 October, to 380,982 cars, AAR says.
