Services :: Storage Chemical Rail Traffic Continues to Recover2:28 PM MST | November 25, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 2.5% last week, to 41,786 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic was up 8.1%, to 27,431 cars. Canadian traffic fell 7.8%, to 13,351 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 13.3% to 1,004 cars. Chemicals sector traffic in all three countries fell a bit from the prior week's totals. Year-to-date the North American chemicals sector has seen 1,807,259 cars of rail traffic, a 14% drop from 2008 levels.
