Services :: Shipping Rail Traffic Rises 18.5%10:20 AM MDT | April 23, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 18.5% year-on-year last week, to 45,447 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic was up 8.6%, to 29,221 cars. Canadian traffic rose 46.4%, to 15,014 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 3.3%, to 1,212 cars. Traffic in all of North America was up from the prior week's totals, though U.S. traffic declined slightly. Overall, freight rail traffic rose 18% year-on-year last week, to 384,252 cars.
