Services :: Shipping North American Rail Traffic Down for Week Ended September 12, 20092:53 PM MDT | September 17, 2009 | Vincent Valk Chemical rail traffic in North America was down 8.5% year-on-year last week, to 38,490 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR). U.S. traffic declined 9.1% year-on-year for the same week, to 25,231 cars. Both figures were sequential declines from the prior week's totals. Last Monday, September 7, was the Labor Day holiday in the U.S., however, that same holiday fell on September 1 in 2008.
