Services :: Shipping Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 0.4%4:29 PM MST | January 17, 2013 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 0.4% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 12 January, to 42,151 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was down 3.1%, to 29,696 cars. Canadian traffic increased 9.8%, to 11,177 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 12.3%, to 1,278 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic was down 4.5% YOY during the week ended 12 January, to 370,414 cars, AAR says.
