Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 7.8%5:17 PM MST | February 24, 2011 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 7.8% year-on-year last week, to 43,676 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 5.7%, to 30,673 cars. Canadian traffic was up 16.4%, to 11.908 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 13.3%, to 1,095 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, except in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 7.1% year-on-year last week, to 384,535 cars.
