Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 7.4%5:30 PM MDT | August 4, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 7.4% year-on-year last week, to 42,849 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up 4.9%, to 30,480 cars. Canadian traffic rose 17.4%, to 11,268 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 12.5%, to 1,101 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell slightly, by 0.1%, to 386,713 cars, AAR says.
