Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 6.2%2:00 PM MDT | April 26, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 6.2% year-on-year during the week ended April 21, to 44,444 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 5.4%, to 30,847 cars. Canadian traffic rose 9.4%, to 12,268 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 1.6%, to 1,329 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 0.1% year-on-year last week, to 379,454 cars, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 672,666 cars of rail...
