Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 5.6%4:38 PM MDT | May 5, 2011 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 5.6% year-on-year last week, to 45,187 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 7%, to 32,224 cars. Canadian traffic rose 2.6%, to 11,676 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 2.4%, to 1,287 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, though it fell in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.6% year-on-year, to 389,810 cars.
