Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 5.3%5:07 PM MDT | April 14, 2011 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 5.3% year-on-year last week, to 43,512 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up. 1.1%, to 29,704 cars. Canadian traffic rose 15.2%, to 12,477 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 18.8%, to 1,331 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals, except in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 2.4% year-on-year last week, to 385,658 cars, AAR says.
