Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 3.5%3:58 PM MDT | October 13, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 3.5% year-on-year for the week ended October 8, to 40,744 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 4.8%. to 29,323 cars. Canadian traffic fell 1.7%, to 10,205 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 21.7%, to 1,216 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 3.3% year-on-year during the week ended October 8, to 397,742 cars, AAR says.
