Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 11.7%4:28 PM MST | January 20, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 11.7% year-on-year last week, to 42,713 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 9.9%, to 30,117 cars. Canadian traffic rose 17.9%, to 11,546 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 1.1%, to 1,050 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 5.1% year-on-year last week, to 368,129 cars.
