Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 2.5%3:05 PM MDT | May 24, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America declined 2.5% year-on-year during the week ended May 19, to 41,576 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was down 2.6%, to 28,794 cars. Canadian traffic fell 1.8%, to 11,512 cars, while Mexican traffic declined 7%, to 1,270 cars. Traffic overall fell from the prior week’s totals, though it was flat in Canada and rose in Mexico.
