Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 0.9%3:07 PM MST | January 5, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 0.9% year-on-year for the week ended December 31, to 40,165 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic fell 2.4%, to 28,681 cars. Canadian traffic was up 0.2%, to 10,397 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 41.4%, to 1,087 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals. The week included the Christmas holiday. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 3.1% year-on-year for the week ended December 31, to 322,463 cars, AAR says. For 2011 as a whole...
