Services :: Shipping Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 0.8%4:08 PM MDT | June 14, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 0.8% year-on-year during the week ended June 9, to 42,075 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was down 1.2%, to 29,308 cars. Canadian traffic rose 4.4%, to 11,557 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 17.8%, to 1,210 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week’s totals, though it fell in the U.S. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 0.1% year-on-year last week, to 382,016 cars.
