Services :: Legal Lawmaker Proposes Bills to Rescind TRI Changes, Reinstate Superfund Taxes10:58 PM MST | February 11, 2009 | Kara Sissell Representative Frank Pallone (D., NJ) has introduced a bill that would rescind the changes EPA made in 2006 to the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) and reinstate the original reporting threshold of 500 lbs/year of a given pollutant. The Toxic Right-to-Know Prevention Act would undo changes “that have seriously undermined the TRI,” Pallone says. Changes made by the Bush administration’s EPA raised the threshold levels, which define the amount of a given pollutant that triggers the TRI reporting requirement, from 500 lbs/year to 5,000 lbs/year.
