However, the decision means that China's rare earths export quota for the whole of 2011 will be virtually unchanged from last year. The move disappointed the European Union (EU), U.S., and Japan, which have been lobbying China for a bigger increase in its rare earths export quota, to ease supplies in international markets and soften prices.
