Services :: Legal China Blocks Exports of Rare Earths to Japan11:15 AM MDT | September 29, 2010 | Ian Young China has imposed an unofficial ban on exports of rare earth elements to Japan, reports quoting Japanese importers say. The export ban takes place against the background of a diplomatic spat between the two countries following a recent collision between a Chinese fishing boat and Japanese coast-guard vessels in the East China Sea, and subsequent detention by Japan of the fishing boat captain. The incident took place in waters that are disputed by the two countries. The Ministry of Commerce (Beijing) denies that it has halted exports of rare earths to Japan. But...
