Software and Services to Drive Increase in IT Spending

IT expenditures at U.S. chemical companies are expected to increase about 4.3% this year, to $6.2 billion, according to a recent study by Manufacturing Insights, a unit of IDC (Framingham, MA). Chemical firms say that IT spending this year will be driven by software purchases and upgrades as well as services, which firms hope will improve profit margins, IDC says.
