PPG acquires aerospace coatings maker

PPG has acquired Deft (Irvine, CA), a maker of aerospace coatings, including structural primers and military topcoats, the company says. Financial details of the deal, including purchase price, have not been disclosed. Deft has 140 employees and works mostly with the North American aviation sector.   “Acquiring Deft will advance PPG’s strategy to remain a leading aerospace coatings supplier,” says Barry Gillespie, v.p./aerospace at PPG. “Deft’s waterborne and chrome-free technologies complement PPG’s existing coatings...
