Minerals Technologies Earnings Fall 6% on Charges

Minerals Technologies reported net income of $15.7 million for the third-quarter of 2011, or 87 cts/share, down 6% year-on-year from the same period last year, the company says. Adjusted earnings, excluding a special charge of 8 cts/share related to a currency translation loss, totaled 95 cts/share, beating analysts’ consensus of 91 cts/share, as reported by Thomson One (New York).   Third-quarter sales totaled $262.2 million, up 5% year-on-year from the same period in 2010.
