Services :: Environmental Cefic Raises EU Output Growth Forecast1:57 PM MDT | July 30, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Cefic has raised its 2007 forecast for growth in chemicals output in the European Union (EU), in volume terms and excluding pharmaceuticals, from 2.2%, to 2.7% (CW, Jan. 3/10, p. 24). EU chemicals output grew 2.1% in 2006 and 3.6% in the first quarter of 2007, Cefic says. “The European chemical industry started 2007 on a positive note,” Cefic says. “Most EU countries are likely to benefit from a relatively good macroeconomic environment, with strong domestic demand and favorable external EU trade.
