Uhde Awarded Chlor-alkali Contract in India

Uhde India (Mumbai), a subsidiary of Uhde, has been awarded a contract by Andhra Sugars Ltd. (Tanuku, India) to convert an existing chlor-alkali production facility at Saggonda in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to use membrane cell technology. The existing plant, built in 1997 using DeNora cells, is designed to produce 100 m.t./day of caustic soda. The conversion will result in a capacity hike to 136 m.t./day of caustic soda.
