Toyo-Thai Corp. to Build Plant for Ube in Thailand

Toyo-Thai Corp. has been awarded a letter of intent by Ube Industries to build a previously announced 1,6 hexanediol (1,6 HDL) plant for Ube's new subsidiary, Ube Fine Chemicals (Asia) Co. Toyo-Thai will perform the engineering, procurement and construction work on a lump sum basis. The complex will be built at Rayong, Thailand and will be designed to produce 6,000 m.t./year of 1,6 HDL, using Ube's proprietary technology. The plant will also make 1,5 pentanediol as co-product. Total investment in the complex has been estimated at Baht 2 billion ($57.1 million)...
