Petrobras Awards Comperj Technology Contracts to Shaw

The Shaw Group says its energy and chemicals division has secured contracts for providing its proprietary ethylene technology for the 1 million m.t. ethylene complex to be built near Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras and a groups yet to be named investors plan to build the Complejo Petroquimico Rio de Janeiro (Comperj) which will include ethylene and derivatives units, the first of which is slated to begin operation in 2012.
