Services :: Distribution Rail Traffic Up Last Week12:03 PM MST | December 24, 2009 | Vincent Valk North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 10.7% for the week ended December 19, to 40,338 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads. U.S. traffic was up 13.9%, to 26,404 cars. Canadian traffic rose 4.2%, to 12,923 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 20.8%, to 1,011 cars. Traffic in the U.S. and the continent as a whole rose from the prior week's totals. It was the sixth consecutive week that chemicals sector rail traffic posted a year-on-year increase.
