Services :: Distribution Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 6.4%8:59 AM MST | February 18, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 6.4% year-on-year last week, to 41,860 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 6.4%, to 29,321 cars. Canadian traffic rose 7.8%, to 11,426 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 5.8% to 1,113 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals, except in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 4.2% year-on-year last week, to 356,758 cars.
