Services :: Distribution Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 4.6%4:08 PM MDT | September 22, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 4.6% year-on-year for the week ended September 17, to 42,014 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 1.3%, to 29,423 cars. Canadian traffic rose 13.7%, to 11,388 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 11.2%, to 1,203 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, though it fell in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 0.4% year-on-year last week, to 390,422 cars, AAR says.
